In my previous two posts, I’ve done reviews for bumper pool table and a ball set. For this post I will provide you with a tutorial on how to bumper pool and to know what the rules are as well. To see a how-to guide on how to play bumper pool, you can click here. It explains the placements of the balls before play, the number of players, how many balls each player has, and etc.
I have also provided a video that you can check out that explains quite clearly on how the game is played below.
I hope that you liked this rather short post on how to play bumper pool. Please share on social media if you do. And, as always, if you have any thoughts, comments, or questions, feel free to add them in the comments section below, and I’ll do my best to respond back as soon as I can within 24 hours. Thanks for reading and stopping bay.

jumpshots and or the ball leaving the table surface at all is illegal and both incur the same 2 ball penalty.

Unless you’re making rules on how to play, then yes there are penalties. However, jumpshots are perfectly legal and the ball leaving the table only results in that ball being placed in the middle of the table. There are no penalties in either scenario.

What are your thoughts on a rectangle vs. octagon bumper pool table?
My thoughts are that I am more comfortable playing on a rectangle pool table. I also find it more challenging as well since it is longer and it may require to stretch or use a bridge stick. Though I do like variety, I would occasionally play on an octagon pool table from time to time. But, I do know that different strokes apply to different folks where there are some people who enjoy playing on a bumper pool table let alone an octagon bumper pool table. I’m curious to know as to what your thoughts are on a rectangle vs. octagon pool table?

Hello,
my name is Mike and I never knew about Bumper Pool. Thanks to you guys I know it now and I must say it seems like a funny game. The way you explain Bumper Pool in the video is very entertaining.
I will definitely try it out in the future.

Hello Mike. I would like to say thanks for commenting on this post. Yes, at first glance the bumper pool table can seem funny or odd as it really looks different from a traditional billiards table. If you want to read a review about the table itself that you can check it out by clicking here. I will add another “odd” bumper pool table in the future.
Cheers!

Hi Armand,
Nice vid, love the part about making an impression on ladies – it’s what I often did when I played eight-ball in my university days 🙂
I’ve never tried bumper pool and never seen such tables anywhere, but the game looks really interesting. I always dreamed of having my own billiards room sometime in the future – bumper pool table will fit nicely in there 🙂 .

Thank you for the comment, Dmitriy! I am curious, just how good were you at in impressing the ladies? I would like to know your skill, and maybe I can make an impression too…tsk!
Haha, anyhow I feel a bumper pool table would definitely make a great addition to a game room as you’ll have a rare form of billiards that you can play. I hope to hear some good experiences if or when you decide to get this.
Cheers!
